Owner vs. Guardian

Owner

The person who purchased the right to use the domain through ICANN-accredited registrars — or acquired it prior to ICANN's existence. The owner can verify ownership by adding a DNS TXT record, proving they control the domain's DNS.

Guardian

An Agent, Broker, Promoter, or Representative acting on behalf of the domain owner. A Guardian has completed DomainWorld Real ID validation via Stripe — facial recognition matched to a government-issued ID — and has received the Trusted Gold Star badge. This badge tells buyers a verified real person stands behind the listing.

How DNS TXT Verification Works

It's like showing a receipt that proves you own the domain. Here's how:

When you list a domain, DomainWorld gives you a unique verification code
Log in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.)
Go to DNS settings for your domain
Add a new TXT record with the verification code
Come back to DomainWorld and click "Verify" — we check the DNS and release your domain from detention

Most registrars have a simple "Add Record" button. It takes about 2 minutes. If you're not sure how, your registrar's support team can help — just tell them you need to add a TXT record.
